This year’s  show was very well supported with a total of 45 entries, not at all bad given that a good deal more hay must already have been eaten due to the terrible weather!  The hay and charity pledge auction raised the tremendous total of £3054-00. Thanks to all friends and supporters for their splendid efforts.   We will be making an announcement later in the year about which children’s charities will benefit from our efforts, keep an eye on these pages.

The Hay Show is a sucessful show in the Winter, sometimes experiencing some interesting weather. Large and small bales of silage are entered for this prestigious event. An auction of promises and auction of the hay and silage follows. All profits again go for charity.

In 2008 the Hay Show gave £2000 shared between Barndale Short Break centre, Rothbury First School and Rothbury Middle School.

In 2009 we worked in tandem with the Simonside Country Fair and together gave the tremendous sum of £5000 to local activities and charities mainly focussing on those serving children and families in the north east.

In 2010 we established an extra class with the addition of a class for Round Bale Hay as well as the usual classes for meadow, seed and hayledge.

In case you are wondering how it's done, all entries are judged for four qualities :  texture, colour, smell and presentation - by our panel of expert judges!
